Shearing is an integral aspect of sheep welfare and needs to be booked annually for the animals well-being.
If your sheep have missed a year - don't stress! It happens. Just let me know at the time of your booking so we can allocate an appropriate amount of time for shearing and get your animals back to their best again.
Shearing not only relieves the sheep of fleece, it also gives us a wonderful opportunity to assess the animals overall health. We drench, hoof trim and lice treat (when required) the sheep all at the same time.
Here in South Gippsland I shear in the warmer months - from September 1st until March 31st. Emergency shearing outside of these times are only done if deemed necessary. I cover most areas within 90 minutes of Lang Lang, Victoria.
Charges
I charge a $60 travel fee + $20 per sheep. This price covers drenching, hoof trimming and lice treatments as required.

To prepare for your booking:
🐑 The best sized yard is around 3mx3m or smaller. It needs to have no holes the sheep can squeeze through. Yards should be prepared on relatively flat ground with no hazards. Makeshift yards can be made with farm gates and star pickets really easily!
🐑 If you can yard the sheep a few hours before the shearing that would be ideal. We want to fast them from food as best we can so they are nice and comfortable and don’t have full bellies for shearing. Failure to yard your sheep before your appointment will be charged at the full price of the consultation.
🐑 Sheep need to be dry for shearing. If we book a day that happens to have wet weather and you don’t have a undercover yard we will need to postpone to a dry day.
🐑I don’t take the wool, so that is yours to do with as you wish.
🐑 I am completely battery operated and don’t require electricity.
Please fill out the Booking Form and Chloe will get back to you as soon as possible.
